- The declining of timber potency from natural forest and state forest has put the community forest as an alternative source of raw materials supply for local and industrial forestry sector which reliable in term of both quality and quantity if managed sustainably. Timber marketing is one of the important factors on managing community forest (Dudung Darusman and Hardjanto, 2006). There are barriers to entry in community forest timber marketing, where farmers cannot enter to the marketing chain, but they have to go through the trade collector to reach their industry or costumers. Now days, most of demands for community forest timber are the legal timber, the one that can be proven comes from community forest with legal ownership. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze its timber trading distribution of community timber to make the location and the timber trader can be clearly identified. This study aims to design a model of spatial information systems on community timber marketing for Local Forest Government (Dinas Kehutanan), as supporting tools accordance to legality requirement. This study used an approach that will be directed to produce a construction, models, methods or operations of that all into a form of information. Design of system information spatial distribution for community timber market was conducted using a structured information system development and implementation of programming languages, so that problems can be identified. Information will be easy to maintain, flexible, and can be used as documentation either through an information system. The Information generate are : location distribution and community forest potency, distribution of timber trader both inside and outside regency, as well as information about the transportation of log and processed wood both in and out of regency. Information may include the data in tabular and map. The designed model of spatial information systems on community timber trade system is able to meet and present the outcomes which needed to improve legal timber trade by the local Forest Service.
