- KRDE Kaligung Mas is a passenger train operated by PT.KAI which trip route is Semarang � Tegal. This train is an economic AC train class which replace the train which serve the same trip route those are KA Kaligung Mas (Business class) and KA Tegal Ekspress (Economic class). This changes of service will sure affect all the component involved in this business service which one of them is the passenger who use the service. Thus, this research�s aim is to know the characteristic of the passenger or the user of KRDE Kaligung mas and also to know the factors which influence the decision making of the user when decided to use the transport service of KRDE Kaligung Mas. There are two analysis methods used in this research to answer the aim of the research. The first method is statistical descriptive analysis which is used to analyse the characteristics of the respondents which resembles the characteristics of the passenger. The second one is factor analysis which analyse the variables which influenced the passenger to choose KRDE Kaligung Mas. Factor analysis is used to categorize the variables into one or more groups which represent all of variables. The descriptive analysis shows that the majority of respondents which are the passenger of KRDE Kaligung Mas is passenger in the productive age that is 20 � 40 years old and most of them works as private corporate employee and also civil servant/TNI/POLRI with average monthly allowance is Rp 2.500.000 until Rp 5.000.000. The result of the analysis also interpret that the passenger of KRDE Kaligung Mas are not belong in commuter category. This can be seen from the frequent use which mostly only 2 � 3 times a month and the trip purpose is dominated by those who are on a family or friend visit. As for the result of factor analysis, there are 2 factors formed from 11 variables previously. The first factor is the technical performance factor which consist of 4 variables: travel time, travel cost, schedule accuracy, and departure frequency, while the second factor is service factor which consist of 7 variables: security, safety, the cleanliness level, the ease of accessibility, comfort level on the train, comfort level on the train station, and the difficulty level of getting the ticket.
