- Background: Citra Harapan Hospital Bekasi wants to fix an existing management system, including nursing management. Retention of nurses is important because it raises concerns about the quality of patient care and the impact on the high cost of recruitment and orientation of new staff. Retention of nurses is an organization's ability to retain nurses as long as possible to work in a hospital or an organization. Objective:To describe the demographic characteristics of Citra Harapan Hospital Bekasi, to reveal the retention of nurses in Citra Harapan Hospital Bekasi, to determine the relationship between demographic characteristics of the nurses and the retention of nurses in Citra Harapan Hospital Bekasi, and to investigate the relationship between the retention with the future work plan nurses, and to determine the relationship between demographic characteristics of nurses with future plan nurses in Citra Harapan Hospital - Bekasi. Method: This study is a quantitative research with cross sectional approach involving 103 nurses. Results and discussion: Based on the results obtained most of nurses working at the Citra Harapan hospital Bekasi were female (93. 2%), aged under 30 years (78. 6%), have a Diploma nursing education (89. 3%), unmarried (63. 1 %), and do not have dependents (67%), with an average working period 12-35 months (51. 5%). And plans for future nurses work mostly came out of work in RSCHB as many as 83. 5%. Most respondents stated workload, work environment, occupational safety, professional practice and workplace organization not as expected. Conclusion: Retention of nurses contribute to stability of the quantity and quality of nurses, to maintain quality of production or the quality of nursing care, reduce spending, and keep the morale of nurses who work in hospitals so there is no loss of qualified nurses are needed in the development of nursing care. However, retention of nurses found in this study do not have significant differences in variables such as demographic characteristics of the nurses personal as well as future work plans are nurses.
