- Background: Dengue fever is one of the endemic diseases that often lead to Extraordinary Events (KLB), including one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in children, especially in tropical and subtropical countries in urban areas. During the early years of the epidemic in each country more DHF affects children and reported cases aged less than 15 years. In Indonesia dengue disease in the top 10 inpatient hospitals across Indonesia. In South Sumatra Province highest dengue cases came from Palembang city. Based on data from the 2012 age group is much more exposed to dengue fever at the age of 5-9 years as many as 284 cases and 185 cases as much as 10-14 years. Dengue is spread by the Aedes aegypti mosquito containing dengue virus. Dengue fever is very dangerous if not handled properly and quickly as it can lead to death within a short time. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between the behavior of elementary school children include knowledge about dengue disease, the action of elementary school children against dengue disease prevention and environmental sanitation factors include the provision of clean water and solid waste management at the household incidence of dengue in elementary school in Palembang. Methods: The study was observational analytic epidemiological case-control design with a number of subjects were 58 cases and 58 controls. Data was collected through interviews using questionnaires and observation using a check list. The data obtained were analyzed in univariable, bivariate using Chi-Square test while using a multivariable logistic regression analysis at α = 0.05. Results: The analysis found a significant relationship between the incidence of dengue knowledge on elementary school children in Palembang (p value = 0.0361 and Odds Ratio = 2.2509), there is a significant relationship between solid waste management with the incidence of dengue in elementary school children in Palembang (pvalue = 0.0004 and odds ratio = 3.9). In the multivariable analysis found that the variable of household solid waste management is the dominant variable affecting the incidence of dengue in elementary school in Palembang. Conclusion: There is a relationship between knowledge, household solid waste management with the incidence of dengue in elementary school in Palembang and no statistically significant relationship between water supply but a protective factor against the incidence of dengue in elementary school children and the action is not related to the incidence of dengue in children elementary school in Palembang.
