  • The use of motor cycle body protector is not commonly applied to motor cycle in Indonesia. There are some parties who have begun to make the body protector, but the design is very simple. There are still many insufficiency in terms of design and materials. The shape of the protector does not fit the motorcycle body very well. And most of them still use steel frame to support the body. The aim of this research is to design motorcycle body protector from rami/E-glass hybrid composite material. Composite materials are easy to be manufactured, therefore the shape of the body is expected to fit the motorcycle body. Besides, the mechanic properties can be varied by changing the composition of the matrix and fibers. E-glass fibers which are strong but brittle will be combined with the natural fiber which is more resilient. By using this hybrid composite material, the use of steel frame to support the body can be reduced so that the motor cycle will not be burdened. The hybrid composite materials need to be tested, so that we can get the appropriate fiber composition to obtain the desired strength and stiffness for the motorcycle body protector structure. There are some tests performed to determine the strength of the hybrid composite materials, such as density, tensile test and bending test.
