- Power distribution control centers require reliable communication system in order to carry out its function in the process of monitoring, controlling, retrieval and collection of the necessary data from the substation and the keypoint which is entirely through means of telecommunication. Previously, SCADA communication used PLC (Power Line Carrier) and Fiber Optic but of frequent disturbance in PLC and expensive cost on fiber optics then looked for other communication media is GPRS. GPRS Modem reliable enough and the cost is quite cheap as a SCADA communication media at PT. PLN (Persero) APD Jateng and DIY so it can be used to replace the communication media PLC (Power Line Carrier) and Fiber Optic constrained frequent disturbances and expensive cost. At this time, PT. PLN (Persero) APD Jateng and DIY can integrate GPRS modem to 550 points keypoint at Jateng and DIY.
