  • Topic: Jatakaâ��s fable stories on Borobudurâ��s relief carved in the balustrade of temple body and contains of 137 panils. The story of Jataka is about life before Budhaâ��s born as Sidharta the prince. The main issues of the stories tell about the goodness of Bodhisattwa which it makes a differencenses from others living creatures. Problems and Objectives: The problems posed in this study were: 1. What kind of animal that drawn in Jatakaâ��s fable stories on Borobudurâ��s relief and how is the depiction in the Jatakaâ��s relief? 2. How is the animal roles in Jatakaâ��s fableâ��s stories on Borobudurâ��s relief? This study aim to get know the variation of animals which it has the roles in every part of Jatakaâ��s stories. After knowing the every roles of animals then the research is trying to find connection between the animal and the Buddhism concept. Method: The research is descriptive analytical method of inductive reasoning. Acquisitioning data technique using a Jatakaâ��s relief data and then comparing it with some literature study result about the stories in Jatakaâ��s relief. Conclusion: The relief represent the animal highest than the human. Somehow, the scuplturer show the human looks like do the workship to animal. In the relief, the animal show the human attitudes. The animal that be the main characters in Jatakaâ��s are rabbit, elephant, turtle, fish, deer, monkey, pigeon, and woodpecker. The animals are drawn in realistic. Animals in fable stories deliver the positive and negative side of human. The fable stories in satire to human and it shown by the weak animal can be wiser than human. Using the animal as the Bodhisattwaâ��s appereance based from the Indiaâ��s myth.
