  • The policy of flats construction in the Semarang city was an alternative for handle densely populated areas which cause untidiness. This policy firstly used by Pekunden flat housing which have located close to the center of government, and was originally a crowded area with densely populated settlements which were classified as slum and wild, meanwhile Bandarhajo flat was a coast area, industry, harbor and building that often got flooded so that it caused the slum. This study concerned the differences of socio-economic conditions and the relationship between socioeconomic with the residentâ��s reason to live in the flat. This research used method by conducting field surveys, observations and interviews as well as statistic descriptive data analysis. Sampling was taken randomly, with the type of Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. The sample was determined based on the patriarch population (KK) on occupancy type 27 m2 and 54 m2 with the number of Pekunden respondents 30 patriarchs and 50 patriarchs in Bandarharjo, thus the total respondents were 80 patriarchs. The variable of socio-economic aspects, including the number of household member, education, employment, income, and occupancy ground. The result showed that the occupants in Pekunden and Bandarharjo flat housing had the socio-economic condition which was significantly different. From every socioeconomic variable and analysis of statistic descriptive that showed the Pekunden occupants had a better social economic status. In addition, the relationship between socio-economic with the some residentâ��s reason to live in the flat was significantly correlated. Income variable is the most considered aspect by occupants for all of reason to live in Pekunden and Bandarharjo flats.
