  • Falcataria moluccana is a susceptive plant to the gall rust disease caused by Uromycladium tepperianum. Forest disease control using chemical fungicide causing negative effect to environment and human being. Papaya leaves extract has been proven as a natural fungicides to prevent rust fungi development on coffee plant. The aim of this research was to determine the effectiveness and the most appropriate concentration of papaya leaves extract to prevent gall rust disease in F. moluccana seedling. Papaya leaves were extracted in 70% ethanol using maceration method. The extract was diluted in aquades. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The treatment factors in this research were the concentration of papaya leaves extracts (0 g/l, 9 g/l, 45 g/l dan 90 g/l). Percentage of sporulation, percentage of penetration and percentage of infection were observed to determine the effectiveness of papaya leaves extract. The result showed that the application of papaya leaves extract was effective only applied in a few minutes before U. tepperianum inoculum existence. The application of 9 g/l, 45 g/l and 90 g/l papaya leaves effectively prevents teliospores sporulation in 59% up to 89%. On other hand, the application of 45 g/l and 90 g/l papaya leaves extract effectively prevents the basidiospores penetration (63% up to 100%). While concentration 90 g/l of papaya leaves extract effectively prevents the mycelia infection up to 100%.
