  • Breast cancer caused mayor death in woman. They come from abnormal and uncontrolled cells proliferation in breast tissue. Recently there are many risks using cancer chemotherapy, so we need natural molecule of plant (especially Gynura procumbens (Lour.) Merr leaves extract) that inexpensive and easy to be obtained. The purpose of this experiment is to examine the effect of G.procumbens (Lour.) Merr leaves chloroform and methanol extracts on chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) angiogenic activity induced by Rat (Rattus norvegicus B.) breast cancer tissue. There were 3 phases in the experiment, that were carsinogenic induction, leaves extraction, and antiangiogenic test. Dimetilbenz(α)anthracene (DMBA) as a carcinogenic has been inducted on female rats by oral. The G.procumbens leaves were extracted by maceration using chloroform and methanol solvent. Antiangiogenic test on 9-11 days old chick embryo corioallantoic membrane were divided into 11 groups. Five groups were control using: normal breast tissue, normal breast tissue and extract solvent (PEG 400 and sterile PBS), breast cancer tissue, breast cancer tissue and extract solvent implantation. The next 6 groups were breast cancer tissue and chloroform and methanol extract of G.procumbens leaves that variate in each 3 dossage: 60, 80, and 100 Î1⁄4g/mL. The eggs (chick embryo corioallantoic membrane) incubated in 39°C temperature and 60% humidity in 72 hours. Macroscopic analysis was done by convert the number of new blood vessels formation to angiogenic growth and angiogenic inhibition percentage and they were analyzed using Anova and Duncan test. The results show that the chloroform and methanol extracts group can inhibited the corioallantoic membrane new blood vessels formation about 50%.
