- Hypertension causes 66% heart disease in 15 countries in Asia Pacific include Indonesia. High costs of medications and drug side effects cause one of the low awareness of hypertension medication. In Indonesia, the presence of sambiloto [Andrgraphis Paniculata (Burm.f.) Ness] is overabundanced and cheap enough. So this plant is very potential for alternative hypertension medication. The purpose of this research is to know the activity of antihypertention ethanol extract of sambiloto herbs (EES) in male Wistar rat and percentage decrease in blood pressure. Research was done by first extracting herba sambiloto by using etanol 90%, identifying extract by investigation of organoleptic, TLC profile and fixing the total flavonoids content. Test extracts of sambiloto herbs antihypertensive effect in vivo carried out on male rats wistar by using CODA � Non Invasive Blood Pressure (NIBP) system with Volume Pressure Recording method�. Hypertension was made by inducer phenilephrine 0.9 mg/kg body weight, positive control nipedipin 10.8 mg/kg body weight and negative control CMC 1%. Extract of sambiloto herbs was made in 3 varian dosages
