  • Batik is one of Indonesian cultural heritage which recognized by UNESCO. Nowadays batik is not only worn as traditional costumes or in special occasions, but it has become a daily attire. Industrialization process of manufacturing batik is not followed by the same process in the downstream stage. The production of batik fabric was still traditionally processed. The research increases the production capability of batik in the traditional method using computer-controlled machine (CNC machine). This research aim to develop batik stamp production process using CNC machine as well as determine factors affecting the outcome. The methodological approach used is benchmarking which applies similar process of manual production to the machine with a modification of the order of the process. The result was examined by using Taguchi method and expert confirmation. The result shows that temperature factor and delay time affect the final outcome. Taguchi method, using Signal Noise Ratio (SNR) smaller is better by measuring width of the pattern in the fabric by in the canting tool, provides the best result setting at 550C temperature with 1 second delay. Confirmation to the expert for the penetrating level of parrafin wax through fabric, shows the best results setting at 750C temperature with 2 seconds delay for the perfect penetrating level, and 550C temperature with 4 seconds delay for imperfect penetrating level. At the end, this research deduced that the average time finishing batik work for 5 times stamping was 50 seconds using machine, while an expert be able to do in 22 seconds and the novice for 72 seconds. The result place the machine in between expert and novice, in terms of production speed. In term of repeatability, the distance of not putting dropper precisely was being measured, the average for machine is 0 mm while expert is 2 mm. In this term, the use machine instead of manually by human.
