  • Community forest has a potential as carbon stock and has a role in the climate change mitigation also has implication to increase the communityâ��s income. The plant species usually cultivated is the commercial and long term one. However, the availability of data and information related to carbon content in community forest is still rare. Thus, the potential carbon content needs to be measured to obtain accurate data related to carbon stock in the community forest and the role as climate change mitigation also the preparedness in carbon trade. The study aimed to establish biomass and carbon allometric equation in community forest, to investigate the proportion of biomass and carbon stock in teak organ, to investigate the biomass and carbon stock in community forest and analyze the opportunity of community forest in carbon trade. The study was conducted in the community forest of Labuan, North Wakorumba District, North Buton Utara Region, Southeast Sulawesi. Data collection was done with direct measurement in the field through the inventory of teak stand, destructive sampling method employed to 13 tree sample selected, and literature study was also conducted to analyze the opportunity in carbon trade. The carbon content test was conducted with the method of walkley and black with spektrofotometry. The estimation of potential biomass and carbon in the community forest used the allometric equation established from this study. The study results showed that the above ground and teak root biomass allometric equation are Wag=0.075(dbh)2.531 (R2=0.989 and SEE=0.158)
