- The existence of floating market is a result of the application of Banjar Community�s adaptation with their natural environment of the river. The objective of this research is uncovering a variety of trading strategies and factors that influence it as well as the role of the Government in an effort to support the sustainability of the trade activities of women traders to continue to be able to survive on Lok Baintan floating market. As for the assessment of this research are using sociological approach through the instrumental rationality theory and theory of action. Research on the strategy of women traders uses a qualitative method with case study approach and for collecting data, it use in-depth interviews and participant observation. Purposive technique used for the selection of informants. The results showed that strategies used female traders in Lok Baintan floating market is twofold, namely, collective strategies and individual strategies. Collective strategies are strategies that are common or are mostly used by women traders in Lok Baintan floating market. There are three collective strategies: 1) Jukung, tanggui, bungkalang and oar as initial capital to trade, 2) Honesty, punctual, friendly attitude and the cheap price, 3) Barter systems fellow traders. While the individual strategy is that special strategies employed by women traders remain on Lok Baintan floating market. There are 5 individual strategies: 1) chose to become a trader who trades every day with the same type of merchandise/goods because they did not have another job as traders don't stick which has plantations, 2) long trade in the floating market, 3) increasing the number and range of commodities, 4) extend the time trade, 5) Keeping the complacency of their costumers. The strategy is the result of the process of experience and interpretation to the environment it works. As for the factors that affect the female traders trade on the strategy is divided into two, inhibiting factors and supporter factors. Supporting factors are: 1) the location of Pasar Terapung which close to their home, 2) no charges/taxes by government authorities, 3) ease of trade in Pasar Terapung, 4) support the Government against the existence of Pasar Terapung, also 5) paddling skills and experience of trade. While inhibiting factors are: 1) venture capital issues 2) natural conditions, 3) hygiene and safety, 4) the supply of goods depending on the season, 5) price competition, and 6) Instead of the profession.
