Daftar Isi:
- Malocclusion of Class III Skeletal has prognatic jaw ralations, where mandible lies over the anterior from the maxilla. Begg technique treatment principle is the mechanism of differential style using light and continuous force. The use of Class III elastic intermaxillary caused the extrusion of molars, retrusion of lower incisors, clockwise rotation of the mandible and condyle position change. Clockwise rotation of the mandible causes changes mandibulars plane angles and anteroposterior position of pogonion point. This study aimed to determine the change in position of the chin in the treatment of skeletal Class III malocclusion after orthodontic treatment with the Begg technique. The study was conducted on 22 pairs of lateral cephalogram from male and female subjects and women aged 18-25 years who met the study criteria, treated with Begg technique with the extraction of two lower first premolars. Chin position changed linearly with changes in the vertical and horizontal point of Pg and Pg ', while the angular changes were determined by changes in SND angle and Y-axis. Data obtained were analyzed with paired test. The results of chin position changes in Class III skeletal malocclusion after orthodontic treatment with fixed appliance Begg technique showed a significant (p <0.05). Pg point changed to the posterior and inferior, and so was Pg point .SND angle decreased, while the Y-axis angle increased meaning clockwise rotation of the mandible occured.
