- Background: Indonesia has encountered various disasters, such as tsunami, Bantul earthquake, Merapi eruption and well as the incidence of Bali and JW Marriott bombing and Sukhoi passenger plane disaster. These disasters took lots of lives, either local people or foreigners. Variation of destruction in victims often brings difficulties in the identification of the corpses in the disaster area. Race characterization can help the identification of the corpses. Anthropometric method in the palate can be used as an alternative in race identification, such as index of canine palate. Objective: The aim of this study is to identify racial difference in index of canine palate between Indonesian and Indian students. Method: The study was an observation that used descriptive analytic method and cross sectional design. The result of canine palate index obtained by the researcher was used as primary data. Result: There were 111 subjects of the study, comprising 60 Indonesian students and 51 Indian students. The result of canine palate index measurement of Indonesian students was 65,16 ± 4,28
