  • In this paper, we apply the direct method of calculus variation to the density functional theory of Bloch electrons in a semiconductor with a particular external potential. Energy functional on Bloch electron system is the mass tensor. The existence of minimizer has been demonstrated, the minimizer ô��©Ì�=ô��© 0 + ô���where ô���â�� ô��1ô�¬ ́ ô�¬μ,ô� ̄£ and ô��©ô�¬ ́â�� ô��1ô�¬μ,ô� ̄£. Minimizer explicit form is calculated by the Ritz method through a convergent sequence density.
