- Urea transport studies on chitosan-pectin polyelectrolyte (PEC) membrane have been done. Membrane transport studies conducted at non MIP (Molecularly Imprinted Polymer) PEC membrane and MIP membrane that imprinted by urea. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of variations compotition of chitosan and pectin on PEC membrane to transport results of urea, the effect of membrane PEC MIP that imprinted by urea to transport results and the effect of competition urea, creatinine and vitamin B12 to the results of the transport. PEC chitosan-pectin non MIP and MIP membranes are synthesized from chitosan and pectin. At PEC chitosan-pectin MIP membranes is added urea as a template molecule. Synthesized results were characterized by spectrofotometer IR. Studies are include optimization of the composition ratio of chitosan and pectin and urea transport with various concentration that observed at various time intervals. PEC chitosan-pectin membrane characterization with IR spectrophotometer indicate that there has been an ionic interactions between the amino groups of chitosan and the carboxyl group of pectin in the wave number 1604 cm-1. The best result of transport membrane composition ratio was 70:30. The transport and flux results of chitosan-pectin PEC MIP membrane is higher than non MIP membrane. The results of transport and flux of chitosan-pectin PEC MIP membrane are 1000 ppm (42.32%
