Daftar Isi:
  • Magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles have been sucsesfully synthesized using co-precipitation method by addition of Polyethylene Glycol (PEG-4000) as coating agent. Particle size distribution and magnetic properties of nanoparticles with variation of mass ratio of Fe3O4, PEG, of 1:0, 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 1:2, and 1:3 have been investigated. PEG-coated Fe3O4 was also added with DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) with ratio of Fe3O4, PEG, and DNA of 1:1:1. Particle size distribution was characterized by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). Particle size of Fe3O4 sample and PEG-coated Fe3O4 sample is about 13,0 ± 0,30 nm and 11,0 ± 0,30 nm, respectively. The result of X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) observed a new phases when PEG is added to Fe3O4 sample. The result of Fourier Transform Infra-red (FTIR) observed new functional groups in the sample when PEG is added to Fe3O4. There is some shifting of functional groups due to the addition of DNA into PEG-coated Fe3O4 sample. The result of Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) showed that saturation magnetization value and megnetization remanent were decrease whereas coercivity field and susceptibility were increase.
