- Background: Breast carcinoma metastasis particularly by lymphatic vessel and lymphangiogenesis is the prominent process. Lymphangiogenesis can be detected by lymphovascular density. Uncontrolled cell carcinoma proliferation can induce lymphangiogenesis. Correlation between Ki-67 expression with lymphovascular density need to advance investigated. Aim : To study the correlation between Ki-67 expression and lymphovascular density in ductal invasive breast carcinoma. Method: 39 paraffin embedded tissue of specimen invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast were stained immunohistocemically using Streptavidin-Biotin staining method with monoclonal antibody anti Ki-67 and anti D2- 40. Ki-67 expression was the number of carcinoma cell which nuclear expressed Ki-67. Lymphovascular density was the number of peritumor lymphovascular which endothel cell expressed antibody D2-40. The relationship between each variables were analyzed by chi square method. Result: Statistical analysis showed there was no significant correlation between Ki-67 expression and lymphovascular density in invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast p= 0,905 (p<0,05). Conclusion: In this research, Ki-67 expression is not correlated with lymphovascular density in ductal invasive breast carcinoma. Key: Lymphangiogenesis, Ki-67, Lymphovascular Density, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma of the Breast.
