  • Three phases of studies have been done to evaluate the productivity of forage yield by intercropping arbila added rhizobium inoculant with sorgum in order to improve the productivity of forage ruminants. Factorial design with 4 dose levels of rhizobium inoculant and 3 levels of harvest time has been attempted in arbila and 3 dose levels of urea and 3 levels of harvenst time with 4 replications has been attempted in the first stage to evaluate productivity arbila and sorghum as forage. Factorial design with 2 levels arbila spacing and 3 levels of row of sorghum crops have with 3 replication also been tested between stage 2 and 3 to evaluate the productivity of both crops and respon of livestock that consumes it. The results of the phase I study showed that for arbila, the dose of rhizobium inoculant 15 g/kg of seed and harvest 100 days to produce dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), and crude protein (CP) production, N absorption, OM and crude fiber (CF) levels highest but lowest saponin level. CP level are still high at 16, 16% of DM. For sorghum, the dose of 100 kg urea/ha and 90 days old yield growth, DM, OM, and CP production, levels of OM, EE, crude fiber (CF), and N uptake highest. The results of the second phase of the study, arbila spacing of 120 cm with 2 and 3 row of sorghum produce DM, OM, CP production, LER values, and levels of OM highest, but lowest level of lignin, while 13.36% CP levels. The third phase of the study, demonstrated the highest consumption and digestibility by goats on forage with treatment 120 cm spacing arbila with 2 row of sorghum and 180 cm spacing arbila with 1 row sorghum. It was concluded that the intercropping arbila inoculated rhizobium 15 g/kg seeds harvested at 100 days with sorghum harvested at 90 days, which planted at 120 cm spacing of arbila and 2 rows of sorghum produces the best productivity as forage for ruminants.
