- Hexachlorobutadiene used as a solvent in the rubber and polymer industries. It is also used in fungicides, pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, algisida and the process of making aluminum and graphite rods. Hexachlorobutadiene used as a chemical intermediate in the production process of lubricating oil. Hexachlorobutadiene plant is expected to support other downstream industries in Indonesia. Hexachlorobutadiene is produced from 1,3 butadiene and chlorine. Gasphase reaction occurs at 450°C and 1,5 atm in the multitube fixed bed reactor with 90% 1,3 butadiene conversion. There are FeCl3 as catalyst and hitec salt as coolant. The design capacity of this plant is 55,000 tons/year. Hexachlorobutadiene with 98% purity is produced from 12,158 tons/year of 1,3 butadiene and 94,248 tons/year of chlorine. The requirement of FeCl3 is 29,791.08 ton/year and 158,400 ton/year of hitec salt. Plant utilities includes 198,910.8 ton/year of waters
