Daftar Isi:
- Ettawa cross breed goats is an alternative to dairy milk. Goat milk also contains vitamins and minerals are higher than cow's milk and can be taken for a person who are intolerant to lactose. The main problem on the production of goat milk is mastitis. Bacillus sp is one of Gram-positive rod bacterium which causing mastitis are still rarely studied. This study aimed to isolate and identify the bacteria Gram positive rods especially Bacillus sp from subclinical goats milk. A total of 40 samples from 20 ettawa cross breed goats were taken from the farm "Sahabat Alam Sejati" Kalasan, Sleman, Yogyakarta tested with IPB-1 reagent to decide mastitis status. Milk sample with positive subclinical mastitis result then continued with isolated on Blood Agar Plate media (PAD) and incubated for 18-24 hours at 37oC. Observed colonies were then grouped based on colony morphology and Gram staining performed. From a total of 125 colonies at PAD, 47 isolates of Gram-positive rods continued motility test, the growth of aerobic and anaerobic, and spore staining. In this research has found 4 species rods Gram positive bacteria, namely Bacillus cereus were 9 isolates (19.2%), Bacillus subtilis 1 isolates (2.1%), Bacillus pantothenticus as 6 isolates (12.8) and Bacillus sp of 31 isolates (65.9%). Bacillus sp is the most Gram-positive rods species was found in this research.
