- Shallot has three months of dormancy period therefore, shallot needs to be stored before planting. The aim of the research was to determine the effects of cutting bulbs to the growth and production of shallot after the bulbs harvest and after the bulbs stored 1 month, 2 months, 3 months. Blue variety shallot was used for the research conducted at the farmers fields at Karang asem, Bantul District, Bantul Regency, The Province of Yogyakarta Special Territory from May to July of 2012. The research was designed in Random Complete Block Design (RCBD) with two factor and three blocks as replications. The first factor was storage period i.e bulbs without storage, storage in 1 month, 2 months and 3 months. The second factor was bulb cutting i.e without cutting, a third cut bulbs and a half cut bulbs. The research results indicated the cutting treatment of bulbs could not break the shallot dormancy for the shallot bulbs which stored less than three months that germination, vigor, height of plant, number of bulbs per plant, bulbs weight per plot showed good value after the bulbs stored for 3 months.
