  • Hydrogen peroxide is a colorless liquid. It has characteristic odor and dissolves well in water. Hydrogen peroxide can be used as a bleaching agent in pulp industries, paper industries, and textiles. This compound is also commonly used in wastewater treatment processes of chemical industries, medical, and electronic industries. Although, there are a few of hydrogen peroxide plants in Indonesia, but it is still rare to find out. Because of that, Indonesia still needs to import it from the other countries. This plant is planned to operate for 330 days/year with hydrogen peroxide production capacity 45,000 tons/year. The main raw materials are 1,359.5472 tons/year of hydrogen gas, 3,858.1488 tons/year of benzene, and 3,702.1248 tons/year of ethylanthraquinone. The method used is anthraquinone auto-oxidation reaction. Generally, the steps of manufacturing process are ethyl-anthraquinone reduction to produce ethylanthrahydroquinone, the intermediate product, ethyl-anthrahydroquinone oxidation to produce hydrogen peroxide, and purification hydrogen peroxide solution by extraction and vacuum distillation. This plant will be built in Cilegon, Banten because of raw materials and markets oriented consideration. Cilegon is located close to the hydrogen industry, harbor and market area. The utility plant use river water to fulfilling make-up water for process and cooling water, because the plant location is close to river too. Utility plant is designed to process 37,791.7025 kg/hour of make-up water, 9,151.3867 kg/hour of steam, 7,552.0775 m3/hour of compressed air with fuel needs is 193.4718 m3/hr. Calculation of economic evaluation results is fixed capital required equal to Rp 336.072.381.000,00 and working capital equal to Rp 94,156,500,00. At 100% production rate, obtained ROIbefore tax is 44.9168%, ROIafter tax is 22.4584%, POTbefore tax is 1.8209 years, POTafter tax of 3.0808, with BEP at 46.2085%, SDP at 21.8538%, and DCFRR is 33.5754%. Based on consideration of the evaluation results, the hydrogen peroxide plant with a capacity of 45,000 tons/year worth to be studied further.
