Daftar Isi:
- Blister blight on tea caused by Exobasidium vexans Massee is one the most important diseases on tea plant. This disease might potentially reduce the production of tea ranging from 20 to 90 %. In consideration to this issue, an accurate and environmentally acceptable strategy is required to control the dispersal of this disease (epidemic) for minimizing the loss on plant. This research was aimed to observe the effect of weather on the daily dispersal of E. vexans basidiospores, to know the daily dispersal time basidiospores of E. vexans, and to determine the effect of dew, rain water, and sterile water to the germination of basidiospores E. vexans. This research was carried out at the Laboratory of Agricultural Mycology, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM, Bedakah Tea Plantation of PT. Perkebunan Tambi, screen house in Yogyakarta and Wonosobo. The results showed that the basidiospores dispersal of E. vexans is influenced by weather elements. Basidiospores dispersal of E. vexans mostly occurred at 02.00-06.00, and type of basidiospores dispersal of E. vexans was night spore and day spore, that the symptoms of blister blight did not appear when the leaves was inoculated in the morning. Basidiospora could germinate in dew, rain water, and steril water, but germination of basidiospores was better in the dew and rain water than in the steril water.
