  • The research was conducted in screen house Condongcatur, green house, and Agricultural Mycology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta from April 2012 to May 2013 to determine the primary disease on sugarcane breeding and to know the effectivity of mycorrhiza arbuskular to reduced the development of disease. The research was arranged in the complete randomized design. The treatment consisted of 9 levels mycorrizha inoculation to sugarcane : Batang (BTG), Tegal (TGL), Purworejo (PWNG), Sedayu Bantul (SB), Palihan Kulon Progo (PKP), Moyudan Sleman (MS), Klaten (KLT), Kediri (C4), and control (without mycorrizha and fertilizer inoculation). The data was analyzed with analysis of variance, continued by Duncanâ��s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) α = 5 %. The result showed that primary disease in sugarcane breeding is rust disease caused by Puccinia kuehnii. The isolate of Arbuskular Mycorrizha from Klaten (KLT) could supress disease development on the seven month old cane.
