  • Infection is main cause of disease in the world, particularly in Indonesia with tropical climate. Many new drug inventions from sea organism facilitate disease tackling caused by infection. Microbe symbion sponge is one of maritime microorganism yielding secondary metabolite with certain biological activity. Symbion sponge code 44BC1 as antibacterial against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Microbe symbion sponge code 44BC1 was cultivated in Marine agar media and fermented using marine broth media. Result of fermentation was extracted with ethyl acetate and concentrated. Ethyl acetate extract of microbe symbion sponge code 44BC1 was test on its antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus with liquid micro dilution method. Active compound detection having activity as antibacterial was done with qualitative KLT and bioautography. Results indicated that ethyl acetate extract of microbe symbion sponge code 44BC1 has antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus with minimal blocking level of more than 10ïg/ïl. result of moving phase dichloromethane: methanol (95:5) v/v indicated that active compound as antibacterial on Staphylococcus aureus on hrï¦ 32 and hrï¦ 77 is chromophore compound and have absorption in UV 254 nm.
