  • Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) converts a low temperature heat source into electrical energy by using a hydrocarbon refrigerant as a working fluid. Solar source has the advantage as a heat source because the heat obtained is free and be able to be used in very conservative applications. In this study, Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) is designed based on experimental results compared to additional recuperator and varied on a particular pump pressure. In addition, the temperature difference of heat exchanger is optimized. On the modelling, R245a is used as a working fluid with Cycle-Tempo as a used media software. The results of simulation depends on thevariations of inlet pump pressure because it will affect system performance. The pump pressure affects the value of pump operation and net working system, the highest efficiency in system without recuperator is 0.24% with pump pressure of 10 bar.The recuperator improves cycle efficiency and adds an efficiency increase up to 0.43% with pump pressure of 10 bar. The greater amount of LMTD, the highest amount of efficiency. The optimum level to achieve the highest system efficiency which is 1.48% is by using recuperator, with pump pressure of 10 bar and amount of LMTD of 5,516.
