- Background: Stroke is a degenerative disease that cannot be cured. An indidual may have stroke recurrence. Risk factors of stroke recurrence are lack of control of physical activities, diet, and smoking. Stroke recurrence can be prevented through managing risk factor of stroke. An effort to manage risk factor is giving supportive educative health education. Objective: The study aimed to identify effect of supportive educative health education to capacity in managing risk factor of stroke at Wates Hospital Yogyakarta. Method: The study used pre-experimental and one group pre test post test design. Samples consisted of 14 respondents purposively selected. Data were obtained through questionnaire on capacity in stroke risk factor management, diary, and focus group discussion. Result: The result of Wilcoxon showed median score of pre test was 13 with minimum and maximum score 9-15, meanwhile median score of post test was 14 with minimum and maximum score 11-15
