- The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the framing of the news of the rejection toward Lady Gaga concert plans to Indonesia between Kompas and Republika daily. This is a descriptive qualitative research. The object is the framing / orientation of the news about Lady Gaga�s concert plans. Data were collected using documentation method, while using framing analysis for the data analysis method The research findings showed that social reconstruction in Kompas Daily exposed more of the opinions of the police officers and the concert organizers. The news in Kompas Daily emphasized on security issues, in which Lady Gaga�s concert would cause a riot by some groups of society that against the plan. It also showed that Kompas daily was more appreciative toward freedom of expression. As for the social reconstruction in Republika Daily, it exposed more of the opinions of the people, both pros and cons, of Lady Gaga concert plan in Jakarta. Republika Daily emphasized in moral psychology issues, which highlighted public response toward the holding of Lady Gaga concert that will cause morale degradation of young people who would watch the concert, in which she was considered to be too vulgar. Republika Daily found to be putting more restriction toward freedom of expression than the Kompas Daily.
