- Background: Autism is a syndrome of nerve development which characteristic appear before child reach 3 years old. Prevalence of autism is increasing rapidly within the last 10 years among 1000 population. Eating pattern in child with autism is different than normal child does. Mothers play major role in providing food for child with autism. Mother's knowledge about autism and good eating pattern are very essential. Aim: To know the relation of mother's knowledge toward autism child's eating pattern with high economic mother and low economic mother Method: The type of this study is observational, with cross sectional method, with mother from autism children in SLB Pembina, SLB Samara Bunda, SLB Marsudi Putra 1 and SLB Marsudi Putra 2. Data collection using questionaires about knowledge, consumption pattern of gluten and casein with Food Frequency Questioner and interview for social economic data. Data analysed by using chi square and fisher method Result: There are 64.71 percent mother have good knowledge about autism, 50 percent mother encourage good eating pattern to their autism children and 70,6 percent mothers come from high income family.statistic shows the significance relation between social economic with mother's knowledge is 0.001 (p less than 0,05) and 0.0013 for relation between mother's knowledge and eating pattern Conclusion: Social economic associated with mother's knowledge, and mother's knowledge associated with child's eating pattern. On the other hand, social economic state of mother is not associated with child's eating pattern.
