  • Background: Controling the transmission of HIV and AIDS in Indonesia is by improving knowledge, attitude, and practice towards HIV and AIDS. Nutrition is essential for patients with HIV and AIDS since it helps them in their recovery process. Therefore, nutrition care workerâ��s knowledge, attitude, and practice are important to support the success of patient therapy. Objective: To determine associated factors of nutrition care workerâ��s knowledge, attitude, and practice in hospital towards patients with HIV and AIDS. Methods: This study used a mixed-method design, which are cross-sectional design and exploratory qualitative. Cross-sectional was used to find nutrition care workers factor which have relation with knowledge, attitude, and practice. Data were analyzed using chi-square test and regression test. Exploratory qualitative was used to find standard operating procedure related nutrition-HIV and AIDS with in-depth interview and document study. Result: Of the 57 respondents, there are 65,71% dietitians and 31,82% nutrition attendants have good knowledge. 65,71% of dietitians and 27,27% of nutrition attendants have a good attitude. Good practiceis shown by 74,29% dietitians and 54,55% nutrition attendants. Dietitian who has good knowledge about nutrition therapies for HIV and AIDS is 49%. Job, education, marital status, and training have association (p<0,05) with knowledge. Whereas attitude are related (p<0,05) to job, marital status, and knowledge. Practice have association (p<0,05) with attitude. Characteristic factors, exposure to media, experiences related to HIV and AIDS, and hospital policy do not have relation with the dietitians knowledge towards nutrition therapy for patients with HIV and AIDS. Conclusion: Knowledge has strong relation with level of training. Attitude has strong relation with job.
