  • Tissue engineering introduces the concept of application of growth factor, scaffold, and cell to regenerate tissue. Carbonate apatite is known to be a good candidate for bone substitution and recently found to be a potential carrier in drug delivery system (DDS) technology. In view of this, it is considered that the combination of gelatin and carbonate apatite would be an ideal scaffold and carrier in DDS technology. Gelatin-carbonate apatite membran is expected to be a vehicle for PRPâs growth factor protein. In this research, various composition of gelatin and carbonate apatite was investigated to load PRPâs growth factor protein in order to get optimum effect. Twenty one gelatin-carbonate apatite membrans were divided into seven groups. Each groups represented different compositions of gelatin and carbonate apatite, those were 10:0, 9:1, 8:2, 7:3, 6:4, 5:5, and 4:6. Gelatin-carbonate apatite membran was immersed into activated PRP for one hour. The amount of PRPâs protein before and after immersion was calculated with Hartree-Lowry protein assay. The data were analyzed statistically using one-way ANOVA. The result showed that there was no significant differences by different compositions of gelatin-carbonate apatite membranes (p>0.05). It was concluded that there are no effect of gelatin-carbonate apatite membran composition to the loading percentage of PRPâs protein.
