- Elastics are frequently used as active components of fixed orthodontic appliances. The forms of the stretching elastics are based on clinical situation. The type of the stretching forms are classic, triangular, rectangular, v-shape, u-shape, and accordion. The purposes of this study were to investigate the effect of the forms and the stretching period to the tensile strength of latex elastics. Ninety elastics namely Leone 3.5 oz which have 9.5 mm each in diameter were randomly divided into 6 groups of the elastic forms. They were classic, triangular, rectangular, v-shape, u-shape, and accordion. Each groups was randomly divided into 3 groups of the stretching period
