- Hashire Merosu is a short story written by Dazai Osamu that was published in 1940. It tells about the life of Melos, a young man from the village who wants to prove the King that there are still lots of honest people in this world. This research used Robert Stanton's structuralism theory. It is used to analyze the theme and the story facts. Story facts consists of character, plot, and settings. This will result on the moral lesson of the story. The result shows that: 1) To be able to reach success, people have to fight and work hard
