  • Gula Semut is brown sugar milled into smaller size with a longer process but more hygienic. Gula Semut can reduce the effect of sugar consumption and healthier than other forms of sugar. This graduating paper aims to know the process of making Gula Semut and its distribution that produced by Mapan located in Pangandaran district. The other objective is to describe the internal and external problems of Gula Semut by using SWOT analysis. The method of data collection is interview and direct observation as the primary method while library and internet research serves as secondary method. Mapan has strength and weakness, the strength is the traditional process of making Gula Semut. It makes the product is free from chemical substance. The weakness of this process is so long. It makes the consumers have to wait Gula Semut comes to them while they require Gula Semut for their products process immediately. The opportunity is Mapan is the only one Gula Semut producer in Pangandaran district area, so Mapan can distribute Gula Semut without competitor. The threat is there will be competitor that sell same product few years later. Nevertheless, Mapan has potential of business Gula Semut because many consumers orders Gula Semut not only from West Java Province area but also other province.
