Daftar Isi:
- Mastitis is an inflammation of the mammary gland. One of possible cause is a bacterial infection. The extent of mastitis case increases because of the enhancement of milk consumption in Indonesia. Mastitis medication is done using antibiotics. There are several antibiotics that are still sensitive. However, there are some bacteria that are resistant to certain antibiotics. This study aimed to determine the sensitivity of bacteria isolated from goat's milk of Peranakan Ettawah (PE) towards antibiotics, in Sahabat Alam Sejati, Kalasan, Sleman, Yogyakarta. There are 18 isolate bacterial consisting of 9 S. aureus, 6 S. epidermidis, 4 S. hyicus, and 9 S. Intermedius isolated from goat milk of Peranakan Ettawah (PE) in Sahabat Alam Sejati, Kalasan, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Bacteria sensitivity to antibiotics test is conducted using a standard Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion. The liquid breeding of bacteria in BHI broth is swabbed using sterile swab on Mueller Hinton Agar (MHA) then put the antibiotics disk consisting of ampicillin, chloramphenicol, erythromycin, gentamicin, methicillin, and finally, incubated them for 24 hours at 37°C. The inhibition zones formed are measured and compared using Kirby- Bauer standard table. The result of this research showed that Staphylococcus aureus are sensitive to chloramphenicol and gentamicin, intermediate to erythromycin and methicillin, and resistant to ampicillin. Staphylococcus epidermidis are sensitive to chloramphenicol, erythromycin, gentacimin, and resistant to ampicillin. Staphylococcus intermedius are sensitive to gentamicin, intermediate to erythromycin, and resistant to ampicillin. Staphylococcus hyicus are sensitive to chloramphenicol and gentamicin, intermediate to erythromycin, and resistant to ampicillin.
