Trichomoas galinae has been studied in many European, America and China. In Indonesia, only limited data of trichomoniasis disease are available, therefore this research is conducted to determine the infection level and histopathological change caused by Trichomonas gallinae in pigeons in Yogyakarta. A total of 15 esophageal swab samples of pigeons were collected from Pasar Satwa dan Tanaman Hias Dongkelan Yogyakarta. Mucus from esophageal swab obtained was added into a reaction tube containing 1 ml of PBS buffer and then centrifuged with a speed of 5000 rpm for 5 minutes after stained with Giemsa. Observation were using a microscope, observed the elongated ellipse protozoan with flagella. first, euthanasi a pigeon which infected with T. gallinae and take oesophagus organ as sample. then, oesophagus sampel send to Laboratorium of Pathology Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Universitas Gadjah Mada and make it into Histopathologycal preparations. Based on the results of the examination and assessment of the data concluded that infection level of the trichomoniasis infection in pigeons was 60% and the results of esophageal histopathology showed heterophile cell infiltration and eosinophils in the mucosal lining and lamina propria submucosa.
