  • Marmin is a coumarin derivative compound isolated from the cortex and the root of Aegle marmelos Correa. Marmin was reported have inhibition effect on histamine release from RBL-2H3 cell culture. In the ileum, there is not only histamine receptor that can contribute on the contraction. But also involve acetylcholine and serotonine receptors. Based on that fact, Marmin was expected to have antagonism action at that receptors. This research was conducted to investigate the effect of marmin on the guinea pig ileum smooth muscle contraction induced by histamine, metacholine and serotonine. Marmin was administered at the doses 10 and 100 Î1⁄4M. The contraction was induced by a graded series of agonis (10-8-10-4 M). On this in vitro study, the type of antagonism and reversibility will be investigated. Besides in vitro study, there is also in silico study in this research using docking PLANTS software. The results showed that marmin able to inhibit contractions of guinea pig ileum smooth muscle that induced by histamine, metacholine and serotonine. In the H1 receptor, marmin at all concentrations were able to shift pD2 significantly (p<0,05). The pD2 value of control, marmin 10 Î1⁄4M and marmin100 Î1⁄4M were 6,61
