- This thesis is a study about the lexicon of colours that describe forms and the usage of the colour in idiom. The Purpose of this study is to describe the form of colour lexicon, classify the colour usage in certain object and disentangle the colour usage in idiom. The research data collected from KBBI and other source amounts 153 lexicons and 44 idioms that used colours as a substance framer. Its analyzed by a method of component analysis. This analysis used the base colour theory by Berlin and Kay. The result of data analysis presented with formal and informal methods. The result analysis of data shows a form of colour lexicon consists of primary and secondary lexeme. Variation of colour can be classified into base colours and derivative colours. Beside base colours and derivative colours, writer also describes colours from foreign language and the usage colours for certain object like hair colours, complexion and etc. The usage of colours in idioms shows the differences colour meaning with its lexical meaning.
