Daftar Isi:
- Radiotherapy has important role for head and neck cancer therapy, not only control cancer locally but also has clinical function concequencies such as hyposalivation, low number of gingival crevicular leucocyte and tissue hypocirculation. Increasing grade of gingivitis severity is important indicator in periodontal disease. The aim of this research was to discover the differences of gingival index before and after radiotherapy accumulated dose of 20 Gy. Research subjects consisted of 10 patients with neck and head cancer before and after exposure of radiotherapy accumulated dose of 20 Gy. Gingivitis severity was determined using gingival index of margin gingiva of buccal, mesial, distal and lingual. The collected data was analyzed statistically using non parametric Wilcoxon test. The data showed there was significant differences in gingival index between head and neck cancer patients before and after radiotherapy accumulated dose of 20 Gy. Patients with head and neck cancer has higher gingival index after radiotherapy accumulated dose of 20 Gy than before radiotherapy.
