- Background: Stroke is a disease most commonly and seriously found with high rate of mortality and disability. Every body has risk factor that can or cannot be modified. Appropriate management of risk factor is an important step in the prevention of recurrent stroke. Management of risk factor in stroke patients requires social support which may come from peers, family members or even health care providers that can assist individuals with health problems. Objective: To identify association between social support and the management of risk factor in stroke patients at Panembahan Senopati Hospital Bantul Yogyakarta. Method: The study was analytic correlation with cross sectional design implemented in 20 stroke patients having examination at Neurology Polyclinic of Panembahan Senopati Hospital Bantul Yogyakarta. Result: Out of 20 respondents 16 (80%) had social support with moderate category. The management of risk factor in stroke patient had equal percentage whereby respondents with both good and poor management of stroke risk factor each consisted of 10 respondents (50%). In 20 respondents the result was p=0.916 (p>0.05)
