- Background: Type 2 Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease whose prevalence continues to increase, with consequences not only on the effects of unwanted physical condition, but also become an economic burden on society. To maintenance the problem of health, there are various health technology and has an influence on the financing. Not all costs are covered by insurance (PT Askes (Persero)) both the cost of the drug, the cost of supporting diagnostic and other therapeutic costs, if it is not in accordance with the agreement. This resulted in the participant must pay the cost sharing (out of pocket). It is necessary to know the relationship of variation technology and precribing patterns with total cost and cost sharing inpatient diabetes mellitus type 2. Objective: The Main objective of this study was to measure the relationship used of health technology with inpatient total cost and patient cost sharing. Special objective were to (1)identify the used of health technology, (2) analyse pattern prescribing, (3)analyse cost and cost sharing component , (4) to measure relationship independent variable to total cost and the cost sharing. Method: The method used in this research is a descriptive study with cross sectional design. Subjects were patients with diabetes mellitus Askes inpatient Sleman District Hospital during May 2011 until June 2012 that met the inclusion criteria. Data analysis was performed with bivariate and multivariate analyzes. Result: Insulin is the most prescribing in this study (81,25%). About 23,57% of drug prescribing is not in acordance with DPHO. Average cost of inpatient is Rp. 3.447.705 + 2.532.610 and drug is the most cost component 43,63%. Average cost sharing for inpatient is Rp. 750.674,- + 873.727 and 81,25% is for drug. Conclusion: The most health technology which are used in this study is drug. Influence factor for inpatient total cost and cost sharing are the amount of non DPHO drug, length of Stay and level room in hospital.
