- Language as a communication tool and social interaction has important role as a device to do cultural activities belong to a part of the culture itself. One of cultural form of Mawasangka society is kaBanti manari. KaBanti manari (menari) constitutes oral poetry of Mawasangka society that is conducted by replying each other between men and women in song forms and delivered with traditional music instrument like drum. This study aims to describe the discourse structure of kaBanti menari on Mawasangka society Buton Regency of Sulawesi Tenggara province, describe the function of kaBanti menari on Mawasangka society Buton Regency of Sulawesi Tenggara province, and describe the life way and local culture of Mawasangka society Buton Regency of Sulawesi Tenggara province that is reflected in kaBanti menari discourse. This study uses qualitative descriptive method. This method consists of three steps, namely data collection, data analysis, and representation of data analysis result. Data collection is done by using participant interviewing method through recording, observation, and noting techniques. After using these techniques, next steps are choosing and tabulating the data to get more optimal data. The data analysis is done to reach the finding of certain cultural system through estimation and inferring. In data analysis of kaBanti menari discourse on Mawasangka society Buton Regency of Sulawesi Tenggara province was conducted by several steps, namely data literal and general translation, analysis of kaBanti menari discourse structure, kaBanti menari function, and analysis of the life way and local culture on Mawasangka society Buton Regency of Sulawesi Tenggara province that is reflected in kaBanti menari discourse. Finally, this study finds the explanation of discourse structure of kaBanti menari on Mawasangka society Buton Regency of Sulawesi Tenggara province that involves opening, content, and closing
