  • As the project implementer, consultant and technical supervisor, the contractorâ��s knowledge upon the road pavement construction method is one of the factors related to the road pavement condition of the project. The objective of this study was to analyze the correlation of contractorâ��s knowledge level and perception to the road pavement condition in District of Sumba Barat. The research instruments used in this study was questionaires distributed to 102 respondents to obtain the comprehension level and perception of the respondent. To obtain the data of road pavement surface condition, this study applied the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method, which included visual inspection to 26 road sections. The Chi Quadrate testing was used to identify the difference of respondent's perception to the road pavement work implementation method. The Rank Spearman correlation coefficient analysis method and Partial Correlation were used to analyze the relation, significance and hypothesis of this study. Based on this study, it can be concluded that the calculating results of the correlation coefficient test indicated strong correlation between the contractorâ��s comprehension level to the condition of road pavement surface. Based on the Rank Spearman calculation, it was indicated that when hot mix pavement = 0,74, the significance degree was Zhitung (1,28) â�¥ Ztabel (-0,063), and when lapen pavement = 0,89, the significance degree was Zhitung (0,89) â�¥ Ztabel (-4,08). The Partial correlation testing showed that when controlled by the road age, the hot mix pavement indicated very strong correlation (0,90 approaching zero), but it was insignificant when the calculation analysis showed Zhitung (0,90) â�¤ Ztabel (0,950) . A lapen pavement was categorized as strong (0,7804) when the calculation analysis was Zhitung (0,7804) â�¥ Ztabel (0,423). When controlled by the contractorâ��s knowledge level, road with hot mix pavement indicated very low correlation (-0,323 approaching zero) and it was insignificant when based on the hypothesis testing of Zhitung (-0,323) â�¤ Ztabel (0,950). The same was applied for lapen pavement, the correlation was very low (0,0153 approaching zero) and no significant value obtained based on the hypothesis testing due to Zhitung (0,0153) â�¤ Ztabel (0,432).
