Daftar Isi:
- The study aims to determine the capacity of field reservoir (bendali) in supplying plants with water in the form of water balance, to determine the appropriate cropping pattern based on water availability in this reservoir, and to determine the area that can be optimally irrigated based on the water supply in this reservoir. Data on water availability in reservoir was obtained by analyzing rainfall and climate data documented for twelve years (1999-2010). Rainfall values employed are those of annual and mid-monthly average rainfall. Climatic factors used to calculate the amount of evapotranspiration are the maximum and minimum temperatures, wind speed, humidity and duration of irradiation, using monthly-mean value. The amount of evapotranspiration is calculated using Cropwat for Windows. Further, the runoff rate is calculated using NRECA method, the amount of evaporated water from reservoir is calculated using mass-transfer method, seepage rate on the reservoir is calculated based on the water escape of the base materials and the walls of the reservoir. The total water available in reservoir, once evaporation and seepage rates were subtracted to it, is ± 60,056.29 m3, thus water balance is in surplus position and thereby the available water is ready to meet the crop water needs in accord with the proposed cropping pattern and certain land area. Water availability in Semangga Jaya village is determined from effective rainfall and empirical assessment of Weibull distribution. Cropping patterns and planting schedules were determined by analysis of water availability in reservoir, and the cropping pattern already implemented by the farmers of Semangga Jaya village, of Merauke Regency is: Paddy-Paddy-Fallow. The proposed cropping patterns are: the alternative I (Paddy-Paddy-Crop, CS-1 November, CS-2 March, CS-3 July), alternative II (Paddy-Paddy-Crop
