- Taliwang City is a city where located in west sumbawa regency that has exprienced with rapid development. The objectives of this study were to describe the growth and physical development of the City of Taliwang after expanded into the Capital District in 2003-2010, and then to determine the factors that affect growth and physical development of the City Taliwang function in terms of land use patterns. Research on the physical development of the City of Taliwang is a spatial or spatial studies, so that the approach used a spatial approach. Some variables on to Some variables used in assessing the physical development of the City Taliwang focused on terms of land use patterns. The research was conducted in Taliwang, West Sumbawa regency. After data collection followed by spatial analysis methods with techniques of time series overlay map to see the development of the city for 7 years starting in 2003 until 2010. Analysis was also conducted using thematic maps and overlayed map to show the changes in land use and additional acreage awakened. Analysis from the related data in the table was the method that used to observe the relationship between the variables as well as to determine data series of the development or improvement of the indicators. Growth and physical development expanded Taliwang City after into the Capital District in 2003-2010 were change of the form of land-use from the swamp, or the grass/vacant land being being built environment. Physical development includes the construction of settlements, construction of government buildings/public services and economic infrastructure development. Direction and speed of growth of the City Taliwang is the allocation to government offices, means of economic and residential/housing.
