  • During orthodontic treatment, the incidence of loose brackets has varied 3.5% to 23%. Therefore loose brackets requires rebonding of which is nuisance for orthodontics because it extends chair time. Rebonding without etching might decrease chair time and hopeful still has bond strength. The objective of the study was to find out the shear bond strength and tensile bond strength during the rebonding of recycle brackets with etching and comparing to the rebonding of recycled brackets without eching. This study used 40 human first premolar brackets. It conducted first bonding, 20 premolar brackets was treated bonding brackets to test the tensile bond strength and 20 premolar brackets was treated bonding bracket to test the shear bond strength. The test and measurement were conducted by Pankee Person Equipment machine. After the measurement, it was conducted brackets recycling by heating and rebonding, and then divided into 2 groups. Group A (20 items) will be conducted rebonding without etching and group B (20 items) will be conducted rebonding with etching. Respective group will be divided furthermore into 2 subgroups. Ten more items will be tested for shear bond strength. It was conducted re-measurement. The result of this study shows that tensile and shear bond strength of recycled brackets rebonding with etching is not difference with the tensile and shear bond strength of recycled brackets rebonding without etching (p > 0.05).
