Daftar Isi:
- This study aims to determine the presence, flight activity and interest of scarab beetle on various colours of light. The experiment was conducted on sugarcane plantation area in Kalasan District, Sleman Regency, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta on sugarcane planting season 2012/2013. The presence of scarab beetles observed using five white light trap placed in a stretch sugarcane in the afternoon. Observations were conducted at 18.00 pm to 20.00 pm, with 10 days interval from 1st October to 30th December 2012. Scarab beetles were caught recorded and identified in the laboratory. Activities and attraction of scarab beetles observed with light traps with combination of white, red, purple, green and blue. Observations were made at night for four consecutive days starting at 18.00 pm until 6.00 am the next day. The result showed that the presence of scarab beetles in sugar cane plantations can be observed with light trap. Beetles were caught by light traps are the genus Phyllophaga, then Lepidiota, Anomala, Aphodius and Exopholis. The presence of beetles which first appeared in the crop is genus Lepidiota, followed Phyllophaga and Anomala. The Presence of scarab beetles in sugarcane plantations lasted more than two months since the first flight in October. The peak flight occured in October for Lepidiota and November for genus of Phyllophaga. Lepidiota beetles more attracted to white trap light than other colors, while attraction of Anomala and Phyllophaga in light trap were not significantly different. Flight activity of scarab beetles at night has increased the 18.00-20.00 pm after sunset, then declined at 2.00 am in the morning and then increased again until 04.00-06.00 am before sunrise.
